e-textiles and Soft circuits
e-Textiles combine the creativity of sewing with the science of circuits and programming. Make something as simple as a stuffed animal with eyes that light up, or something more complicated, like a bike shirt with turn signals on the back, so people on the road know which way you're turning. When you add programming, you can make a shirt that lights up to the beat of the music, or that vibrates when your friends are near.
There's lots available online about beginning and more advanced e-textiles. For basic work, all you need is conductive thread or tape, a sewing needle or glue and a battery, plus LEDs. For more complicated projects, you might use an arduino board, or a specialized arduino for wearable projects called a Lilypad.
There's some good basic information on the e-Textiles wikipedia page. eTextile Lounge has some good ideas for projects too. Their Youtube channel also has a bunch of how-to videos. Sparkfun also has a good basic tutorial.

There are lots of sewing supplies in the MakerSpace, including sewing machines and sergers, hand sewing supplies, buttons, thimbles, conductive thread, felt, embroidery floss, battery holders and LEDs. Ask at the desk for help finding materials that you need.
